The Pamela Denoon Trust
The Pamela Denoon Trust was established with a bequest from Pamela in 1988. The Trust is Pamela's contribution to the ongoing work to improve the status of women.
The trust was established to provide funds for research and education projects which advance and protect the interests of Australian women in all spheres.
The purposes of the trust are to advance education in the community through promoting research into social issues affecting women, particularly through:
- commissioning and/or inaugurating specific studies and/or supporting other research into subjects pertaining to women;
- collecting, evaluating and/or disseminating the results of such studies and research;
- sponsoring and/or contributing towards lectures and scholarships, prizes and other awards or contributions advancing the status of women;
- presenting both the records and results of such study and research by supporting museums, archives and libraries, and providing access to any archives controlled by the Trust.
Achievements of the trust
Since 1990 the Trust has granted funds for:
- 1991 - To fund a number of Indigenous women to attend the National Women's Conference in October 1991
- 1992 - To fund research on the impact of enterprise bargaining on women.
- 1993 - To purchase books, Views from Interviews, for distribution to women's groups in Papua New Guinea
- 1994 - Scholarships for girls in secondary schools in PNG
- 1996 - Scholarships for girls in secondary schools in PNG
- 1997 - Further purchase of books for distribution through the PNG education system.
- 1998 - For the National Women's Justice Coalition to set up a list for Women's peak NGO's, Pamela's List.
- 1999 - Scholarships for girls in secondary schools in PNG
- 1999 - National Women's Justice Coalition to set up a WEB Ring.
- 1999 - National Women's Justice Coalition to set up the 'thing at the centre' (now known as Pamela's Vision)
- 1999 - To assist Ms Jackie Huggins present a paper at a plenary session of the Soroptomists International Quadrennial Convention, Helsinki
- 2000 - To the Black Women's Education Foundation to support their work with women in education and the community
- 2000 - NWJC Intern Education Program to assist with coordination of the program.
- 2000 - NWJC Women's Strategic Development Project to assist with development of the strategy.
- 2000 - Women with Disabilities Australia - to assist with a National Forum on Sterilisation and Reproductive Health Issues for Women with Disabilities, February 2001.
- 2000 - NFAW to assist with the establishment of the Australian Women's Archives Project
- 2001 - NFAW to assist with the establishment of the Australian Women's Archives Project
- 2002 - Sponsorship of Launch of Women's History Month 2002
- 2002 - The Australian Caption Centre for audiovisual resources on domestic violence.
- 2002 - To Women's History Month for the development of the web-based program.
- 2002 - NWJC Strong Women Project to assist with travel etc for workshops.
- 2002 - Women's History Month for evaluation of 2002 program
- 2003 - Chrissie Shaw to research material for some theatre pieces about women
- 2003 - Women on a Shoestring Collective for research for a show 'Following in Father's Footsteps' (The Weaker Sex)
- 2003 - Maritime Museum of Townsville to research a proposed exhibition on the social consequences of WWii, from women's perspective.
- 2004 - Rose Osborne to assist with the preparation of photographs for a touring exhibition, Hands of Reason, in conjunction with 'Women in Black'.
- 2004 - Holroyd High School to support the education of young women asylum seekers and refugees, on temporary protection or bridging visas.
- 2004 - Eva Cox, University of Technology, Sydney to research the experience o young women asylum seekers, particularly those not accompanied by a spouse.
- 2004 - Women's History Month Committee to promote WHM and its new website.
